Own It or Lose It: Protect Your Brand & Reputation Before It’s Too Late
Monday 2/17 – 4PM in the main PBX seminar room on the 2nd floor
What’s your company’s most-valuable asset? Hint: It’s not your gear, office, or van. It’s your name, reputation, and brand! But how do you protect intangible assets like these? How do you protect yourself from competitors exploiting your brand to poach clients, former employees running off with sensitive information, cyber-squatters hijacking your business identity, or even conflicts with businesses in other markets using the same name? Through Intellectual Property protection: Trademarks, Copyrights, Patents, and Trade Secrets. What are they? When should each be used? What do they cost? How do I set them up?
In this fast-paced crash course on Intellectual Property protection, we’ll reveal the basics of trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets. We’ll show real world examples of when each should be used to protect digital assets like your name, logo, slogan, photos, videos, music, website, and even proprietary information like company procedures, processes, and client lists. We’ll even dip our toes into the added risks of using AI tools like Chat GPT to generate photos, logos, or text. As a bonus, we’ll walk through a live demonstration of how to check whether your company name can be trademarked and how to file your own trademark in under 5 minutes – showing actual costs, timeline, and potential obstacles.
